residential
Thermarate’s residential department is dedicated to providing energy efficiency reports for residential homes, developments, alterations and extensions which are classified as class 1a, class 1b and class 10 buildings.
The Building Code of Australia offers two methods for energy efficiency compliance: the verification method and the deemed-to-satisfy (DTS) method.
The verification method (or star rating method)
- The verification method involves the use of sophisticated energy rating software tools.
- A complex model of the home is created based on the design, orientation, location and materials of construction.
- A “star rating” is determined by calculating the heating and cooling loads of the home.
The Deemed-to-Satisy (DTS) method
- The DTS method incorporates a glazing calculator, air movement data sheet and compliance report.
- The DTS is a checklist which outlines the minimum energy efficiency requirements set out in the BCA
- The output is either a “pass” or “fail”.
Thermarate's energy efficiency assessors have a range of energy rating tools available depending on your approval needs.
