commercial
Thermarate’s commercial division specializes in providing commercial energy efficiency assessments for class 2-9 buildings.
Every new commercial building, development, extension or alteration is required to show compliance with the energy efficiency provisions set out in Section J of the BCA Volume One.
The most common ways of assessing compliance withSection J are the Deemed-to-Satisfy (DTS) method and the Verification Methods (JV1 and JV3).
Deemed-To-Satisfy (DTS)
- The DTS method determines compliance based on each aspect of the proposed building meeting minimum BCA requirements including – construction materials, building sealing, HVAC systems, artificial lighting and hot water systems.
- A DTS report incorporates a glazing calculator, artificial lighting calculations and HVAC calculations
Verification Method JV1
- Involves the use of sophisticated energy rating software tools.
- Applicable to the residential components of Class 2 and Class 4 buildings.
Verification Method JV3
- Involves the use of sophisticated energy efficiency modeling software.
- The software calculates the energy loads of a building and compares it to a reference building designed to BCA Deemed-to-Satisfy requirements.
